Long runs means less scrap, but it also means more blocks to handle and to store in the best conditions.
Long block storage, equipped with travelling crane(s), to give an agile answer to the very short-term request of the cutting department is a relevant piece of equipment of our Factory Engineering
IPF offers two different types of cranes according to the length of the block to be handled:
- Bi-supported Travelling Cranes. The best solution up to 35m long blocks. Supported by the building columns this crane can be installed in a quite simple building from a structural point of view.
- Under-hung Travelling Cranes. The right solution for longer blocks. This kind of cranes requires a stronger building as the crane will hang from the roof of the building. Both types of Cranes are equipped with clamps to grip fresh or cured foam blocks, according to customer needs.
The block storage is the lung of your converting department. A poor coordination of the crane or a break-down in the block storage can put you out of work for long hours. To avoid this inconvenient, we add the necessary technologies to increase the performance of the block storage and reduce the downtime to nil:
- No damage of the blocks: accurate positioning in the 3 dimensions, block constrain management, variable pressure control
- Quick delivery: handling automation with pre-programing of the moves, anti-sway system, quick and precise move to guarantee short travelling time
- Qualitative information: stock in real time, statistics and alerts to organise programmed maintenance
- Low maintenance: reduction of the vibrations both of the equipment and of the building, long life moving parts including wire ropes
